Final Design. (separate images)

I have posted four blog posts about my character that I'm building up. In this blog post I am going to post the images of my chosen final design.
I chose the rugged solider because it shows the most character. In my first blog posts I was talking about what I would like my character to be ( a top class veteran soldier ) I have slightly steered away initially from my brief I made myself because I would like my character to be a soldier that was lost in a jungle and needs to survive.

Head

The head is an important part of the character because the emotion of a character could sell the character or take it away. I am going to keep design to the same camo as previous images in my blog post.

Rugged/bloodied soldier

My favourite character face would be the rugged/ bloody soldier because the design shows a lot of character.

Torso

I find the torso one of the most important part of the body beause it can show the characters characteristics. In my experience and many others the first thing you notice is the torso of a character/ person. In my designs I will make sure they have detail that will make them stand out.

Digital camo bloody

I am very pleased with my designs because they all look like a characters that i would like to do.
My favourite designs are the digital camo w/ body warmer and the digital camo bloody. These to designs show character the body warmer for me acts like a hot shot army general, which is cocky and good at his job. But I keep on choosing the injured soldier with blood on his uniform just because it tells a story and could be made into a good one.

Leg

I will do the same with my characters leg ( drawing a leg template and trying to draw designs suitable to my characters characteristics. )

Digital camo bloody leg

I have done a few designs for a leg now, and at the moment my favourite design is my bloody leg because it shows a lot of character like my previous design of my bloody arm.

Arm

To design my character i have decided to break down my characters body. In this blog post I have started by designing my characters arm. I drew an arm template in Photoshop and I now I'm going to draw/ design clothing that'll suit my soldier.

Digital camo Tough combat

I have done a few designs for an arm now and i am pleased with my designs I am stuck upon:
A strict army general in the Woodland camo
An adventures character with the short sleeves
A man that has been lost in combat for a long time and his clothes are blood stained and dirty.

Ideas for Hands and Feet

Here are a couple of drawings that I drew on Photoshop.

Here is a leg I drew but the boot is a image I just wanted to
see what my drawing would look like with a image of a boot.

This is my hand I drew, I tried to make the clothing the same colour
as digital army camoflague but it's a bit faded I need to work on that.

Head Sketch

I am going to design the upper body (torso and above) The face on my model isn't final, the face came from my imagination.

The torso has no detail on it but the next image shown will show why so. I think this is an ideal character in a video game if I were to fill the brief of the grizzled veteran I am trying to design.

I used this technique with a  different character in a previous blog. My character looks like he is in charge, and that's what I'm intending to do.
I would like to create a character that's in charge of a small group of spec ops- SAS soldiers.

Digital Drawings

I am going to create my character as a veteran in the army.
Someone with years of experience. I would like to draw a character from the modern day era that perhaps thought in the Falklands War/ Iraq war (in the early 90s) and now he's a general of an elite squad for example.
While I try to draw my ideal character I seem to be drifting away from it and drawing a WW2 character. Here are a few sketches I have done for my character.

This is a WW2 pilot. I inserted the helmet as a real image from google then drew and face torso and arms on my character.

You should be able to see this is my character from a previous blog. I decided to develope this character because he shows great charcteristics of being held captive or was lost in the woods or something like that, and that'll make a good story for a game. Although it's a little messy I decided to use a paint tool that scatters the paint for the mud affect.

In this image I inserted an image of a body image from Google images and also camp for the arms and legs from the same source.
I have drawn the legs, arms and head on this ready made image of a body image. You can tell by his stance (his arms behind his back) he's a general or someone high by his stance. I have made him look like he is marching in front of a group of soldiers for example.

The image the similar to the last one but here I have put the digital camo behind my drawing to make took like he is wearing digital camo uniform.

This is what I would like my character to look like because he looks like he's in charge and he displays a strong pose. My problem with this character is, he looks too much like a normal soldier. In order to design a character he needs to display characteristics of being e.g. badass or smug, these are just some examples which I am going to build on.
I have used either Photoshop or Sketchbook Pro to draw these digital drawings.

Sketches

These are my concept sketches these include images from the Vietnam War, WW2 and modern day combat.
You will be able to see familiar sketches from my collages I created.
(Because the writing in the images aren't clear I will write the info below the image.)

Vietnam War.

Info:  My soldier has just came bak from combat or maybe kept captive by the enemy.
He looks a mess: (clothes ripped, blood stains)
The colours green and brown are influential to Vietnam War because of camouflage in the
          foliage.

I have used a character on this page because it was a good way to see how a vietnam soldier looked like and to show you what I'm trying to make of my character.
On my character i have added characteristics in his clothes in order to make my character look like he has a story.

WWII.

Info: German Elite Soldier. Suit was designed by Hugo Boss.

I think this german suit is stylish and shows great power in a character so if i was looking at creating a strong and ruthless character the german elite soldiers (also know as the Stromtroopers) will be the first people to look at.

Info: Beret used for decorated soldiers
         WW2 shoes
Infantry belt: includes, bayonet, grenade, various pockets
         Nambu Pistol

These are a few pieces of clothing that caught my attention for a character I would like to design.

Modern Day.

Info: -Body Warmers are usually worn (light, able to carry more pockets.
         -Body Suits are worn 'camouflage'
         - CAT type boots
-There are many more pockets carried by soldiers
         -Digital, Desert Sand camo common

Soldiers camouflage themselves in artificial foliage on scouting missions to be kept hidden.
People in Gille suits looked like bush's in order to hide form the enemy.

Info: Digital camo is a common camo consists of bluey and greyish colours.

What I've just looked at are normally worn by front line soldiers or captains. In modern day it's common to see soldiers with different camo for different terrains.  Body waters are also common because it adds more protection for the solider and its much easier to carry items on your body warmer because it's so light.

Collages.

I group all my work in collages so I can pay closer attention on all images for my sketching.

WW2 Collage: This image contains the equipment + uniform a soldier would carry on all fronts.  Colours consists of Greens, browns and greys.

Vietnam War: The Vietnam war have plenty of their soldiers in camouflage so they can hide in the jungles. In order to be faster soldiers in the vietnam war wore little clothing as possible so they used to carry bandoliers of ammunition around their shoulder, also because Light Machine Guns were first introduced, so it was easier for soldiers to carry ammo around thier shoulder.

Modern Combat: In Modern Warfare there are varieties of equipment and clothing for the soldier to wear. Camouflage is a major part of Modern Warfare and the variety of different cammo is massive. It is easier for soldiers to carry more bags and also have better clothing than any wars in the past.

Influencial Characters:  There are a bunch of actors/ game charcters that have influenced me in my choosing of a character.

Captain John Price:  he is a war veteran with decades of experience in the war.
Hannibal: From the A-team, like Price he has served in the army until becoming a fugative. He is a badass and intelligent character.
Nate Drake: From the Uncharted series he is a treasure hunter skilled in hand to hand combat and gun fights. He is cocky, badass and clever.
Private Ryan: He is a brave soldier, where he fought many skirmishes to save a man behind enemy lines. He is a brilliant soldier that thinks about others.
Claus Von Stauffenberg: He was a real German solider injured in battle, he dispised hitler and tried to assassinate him, although he failed he's a intellegent and respected man.
